Reed Becomes Newest UK Record Holder

Tyler Reed of Morgantown, Kentucky, became the newest University of Kentucky record holder in the 100-freestyle with a time of 42.60 in his last swim meet as a UK Wildcat on Saturday.  Reed finished in fifth place in the finals of the 2012 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington. 

 
Reed qualified for the 100-free finals as the number eight overall seed with a morning swim of 42.94.  He was able to cut three-tenths of a second off his time in the finals to finish in fifth place. 


The 2012 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be re-aired on Sunday, April 1, 2012 on ESPNU. Coverage will begin on a tape-delay basis at 12:30 p.m. ET
Tyler is the son of Ken and Jo Lynn Reed of Morgantown.
