Lady Bears fall to Muhlenberg County

GREENVILLE - The Butler County Lady Bears were unable to return to the win column over the weekend. Muhlenberg County used a balanced offensive attack to beat visiting Butler County 69-45 in the First State Bank Tip-Off Classic on Saturday.
Familiar foes, Butler County and Muhlenberg County are longtime 3rd Region girls' basketball rivals. 
With the win, Muhlenberg County moved to 3-0.
Butler County dropped to 1-2 with the loss.

Grace Hauslein led Muhlenberg County with 10 points. Hauslein was the only Muhlenberg County scorer to reach double figures. Finishing directly behind Hauslein in the Muhlenberg County scoring column, Elisabeth Joines and Alaira Drake added nine points apiece. Another Muhlenberg County player, Destin Armour, scored eight points for Muhlenberg County  in the victory. 
Other scorers for balanced Muhlenberg County were Chloe Lynn (seven points), Alyssa Browning (seven points), Alle Short (four points), Macy Wilson (four points), Whitlee Stovall (four points), Maddie Vinson (four points) and Sarah-Cate Boggess (three points). 
Kasidy Graham led Butler County with a game-high 12 points. Graham was the only Butler County player to reach double figures in the scoring column. However, Graci Leach netted nine points and Maddie Cardwell contributed eight points for the Lady Bears.
Aiding Butler County offensively, Jaelyn Taylor (six points), Dixie Garnier (five points), Gracie Cardwell (two points), Taylin Clark (two points) and Aubrey Clark (one point) provided additional scoring. 
In a girls' high school basketball game on Friday, Russellville pulled away to defeat host Butler County 40-33. Russellville spoiled the Lady Bears' home opener.
