Hogwarts Goes to NBES and MES

The magic of chemistry came to life with the help of Mrs. Jennifer Davis’ Chemistry 105/106 Dual credit class at MES and NBES today. Students demonstrated the effects of combining various elements to create everything from orange foam to orange dancing flames. Mrs. Davis’ class consist of Juniors who are working on a college level in Chemistry to earn college hours as well as credits from Butler County High School.

Viewers seemed to be under a “spell” as they witnessed the spectacular displays of polymers, transfiguration, carbon soufflé, and everyone's favorite; Methane Mambo! Students enjoyed the fog, foam, and flames while trying to pick between the Griffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin teams.

Teachers got all fired up as they had the opportunity to participate in the Methane Mambo experiment. Mrs. Hampton and Mrs. Howard appeared a little nervous when they applied the “magic potion” onto their arms which helped enhance the flames they got to hold in their hands for the audience.

Nicole Milam, Mrs. Jennifer Davis, and Mahkala Burden
This years program was scripted and directed by pupils Mahkala Burden and Nicole Milam. They proved once again that science and chemistry can be fun, educational, and entertaining!
