HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Bears drop district game to McLean County

MORGANTOWN - Butler County dropped an early-season Class 2A, District 2 football game as visiting McLean County prevailed 42-28 on Friday, Sept. 18.

With the loss, Butler County dropped to 1-1 overall and opened 0-1 in Class 2A, District 2.

McLean County moved to 2-0 overall and opened 1-0 in the district with the win. 

The Cougars excelled on the ground, rushing 60 times for 372 yards and five touchdowns in the victory.

Andrew Munster led McLean County offensively, rushing 19 times for 167 yards and two touchdowns. 

Following Munster on the ground for McLean County, Zach Clayton rushed seven times for 77 yards.

Matthew Miller rushed 12 times for 48 yards and two touchdowns in the Cougars' victory. Through the air, Miler completed his lone pass attempt for a 24-yard touchdown.

Contributing offensively for McLean County, Connor Baldwin rushed 11 times for 39 yards and one touchdown.

Braeden Peercy was on the receiving end of Miller's scoring strike. 

Quarterback Jagger Henderson led Butler County, completing 17 of 27 passes for 197 yards and three touchdowns while throwing one interception.

Henderson completed at least one pass to eight different receivers. 

Bryar Beasley led Butler County in receiving, reeling in four receptions for 63 yards and one touchdown. Following Beasley, Jordan Todd added a 33-yard scoring reception for the Bears. 

Henderson paced the Bears through the air and on the ground, rushing 11 times for a team-high 44 yards and one touchdown. 

Contributing offensively for Butler County, Zack Silcox and Solomon Flener added one two-point conversion apiece. 

Butler County is scheduled to visit Hancock County at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25.
