Don Locke; Lookin Thru Bifocals

Another one of those stories of Jesus.

A pegan come to a personal knowledge of salutation in christ. He was asked about it:

“ Was it seguns and miracles Jesus did?”

“ No, we had sooth- sagens and magicians.” the man answered.

“Was it Jesus healing the sick?”

“No, we had medicine- men that said cantations and waved bones, skeletons, and hair of the dead over the sick.

“Was it herbs and spices fed the sick and made them well?” “No,” was the answer

“What was it then?” he asked

“It was when Jesus got a towel and water, and began to wash the disciples’ feet. We had nothing like that in our culture. Only servants and slaves did that.”

Still trying to trick Jesus, he was shown a coin and asked “ Does this thin coin belong to Caesar and to God?” Jesus answered his haters: “Render unto caesar the things that are caesar’s and to god the things that are God’s.”

We talked about Charlie Pride, country enetaine and the only black member of the country music hall of fame- this was in an interview with Dan Rather a short time before Charlie died. In the session with Don Rather, Charlie said his mother’s favorite music was southern white gospel, she heard it on the Gospel radio. She “ sang it throughout the house a lot.” “One of her favorites , “ Charlie told Dan, was an old gospel numbered by the AZRO Docklixs quartet. Here is a small sample of the words: “ On that resurrection morning when the redeemed in Christ shall rise; I’ll have a new body, I’ll have a new life. “Made in the likeness of my savior, ready to live in paradise, i’ll have a new body- praise the lord- i'll have a new life.”

Kindest Regards...
