David Fields: Enjoy the Green River Catfish Festival!
As Butler County Judge-Executive, I want to take this opportunity to welcome both local residents and visitors to our community to the 34th Annual Green River Catfish Festival. Officially set to kick-off tonight, the 2014 Festival has been months in the planning by countless volunteers, local officials, and the Morgantown-Butler County Chamber of Commerce. I applaud their tireless efforts to host this important event for our community.
Be sure to visit the Charles Black City Park in Morgantown this week as dozens of activities are planned with good food and great music always a part of any Festival. From beauty pageants and great-tasting catfish to fair events and wrestling, there is something for everyone. Also, don't forget about the annual fishing tournament, in which I definitely plan to participate! The Green River is a valuable economic and cultural asset to our community and there is no better opportunity to spend time on the river than during the Catfish Festival. Finally, with one of the best fireworks shows around, Morgantown is a great place to celebrate Independence Day on July 4th. I plan to be there with my family and I hope you will too!
It has been an honor to serve as your judge-executive over the last few years. I am grateful for your vote and support in the past, as well as during the recent primary election, and I ask for your vote in November. If entrusted with your vote in the General Election, I pledge to continue working hard for Butler County by providing proven leadership and moving our community forward. But for now, let's enjoy the 34th Annual Green River Catfish Festival and celebrate our Independence Day together as a community. May God bless America and Butler County.
