Annabelle Cooper and BCMS Social Studies teacher Becky Mudd

Annabelle Cooper, who won the school-wide Geography Bee in December, has qualified to represent the Butler County School District at the state level of the National Geographic Society's Geographic Bee on Friday, March 30 at the Carroll Knicely Conference Center on the campus of Western Kentucky University.  One winner from each state and territory will advance to the national competition held May 22-24 at the National Geographic Society in Washington, D.C.  National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo Wild will air this final round, moderated by Alex Trebek, on Thursday, May 24 (to be followed on public television stations).

Annabelle is an 8th grade student at Butler County Middle School.

"I'm proud of Annabelle for all her hard work and I want to congratulate her on the success she's had thus far," said BCMS Principal Jeff Jennings.  "I know she'll do a great job representing Butler County at state competition."

Congratulations, Miss Annabelle. I knew that you were a winner right after I met you when your essay was selected as the BCRTA county winner during your 5th grade year @ MES. I will be following your success @ the Georgraphy Bee. Good luck and go for it!! Phyllis Tate, BCRTA
