Comfort Foods

The 4th annual Comfort Foods for the Holiday will be held on Saturday, October 29 at 10:00 a.m. at the Education Complex in Morgantown. For $10, participants will receive a cookbook-let and they will get to taste some of the recipes featured in the cookbook.  There will also be crafts for adults and children.
Proceeds from the event will go to the American Red Cross of South Central Kentucky as part of the HEROES campaign.
You can be a Hero too! “Heroes for the American Red Cross” is a community campaign where local businesses, schools, church groups, civil clubs and individuals pledge to raise $1,000 to support the vital services provided by the South Central Kentucky Chapter of the American Red Cross.
91% of all donations made to the Red Cross stay within this community, either by paying for training of volunteers, aid for fire victims, or food and/or clothing for families displaced by disaster. The Red Cross gets no federal funding, despite having a federal mandate to respond to disasters and they receive no United Way funding.  The Red Cross survives solely on donations.
You can make a difference! Funds raised supports disaster relief, fire victims, emergency military communications, first aid and CPR training and disaster preparedness right here in South Central Kentucky.  The South Central Kentucky Chapter serves Allen, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Monroe, Simpson and Warren Counties-more than 205,000 people.
What can $1,000 do?
•    Provide food, shelter and clothing for a family of five who have been burned out of their home.
•    Provide 20 military comfort kits to help ease the suffering of wounded warriors.
•    Provide 40 families of four with a week’s worth of meals through the food pantry.
•    Provide 100 hot meals to provide comfort and strength when disaster strikes.

Please come out for a fun Saturday morning and support the American Red Cross of South Central Kentucky.
