Butler County Retired Teachers Association to honor several at luncheon

On Monday, March 12, at 12:00 noon, the Butler County Retired Teachers Association will be honoring and recognizing some of our extraordinary students, along with their parents, grandparents, teachers, and principals. We will recognize our recent 5th grade student from North Butler Elementary School, Zachary Whittinghill, for winning the Butler County Grandparent Essay of the Year Contest. Zach chose to write about his grandmother, Evelyn Raymer, who will also be recognized along with grandson, Zach. We will also be recognizing the recent winner of our county-wide Spelling Bee, who is Kari McClellan from NBES. Kari and Zach can owe some of their success to their Language Arts teacher, Mrs. Jayne Jennings, who will also be recognized along with Mrs. Elaine Daugherty, principal of NBES.

Green River Caterers will serve lunch beginning at 12:00 noon. All of our honorees, along with any new retirees will receive a complimentary lunch in addition to all of the fun and fellowship that our meetings provide. All of this, will take place in the Board Room of the Butler County Educational Complex. All visitors and retirees are welcome to come to this special meeting. Due to our lack of funds, you will be responsible for your own meals. ALSO, if you plan on attending as a visitor, PLEASE R.S.V.P. to Phyllis Tate at 270-755-5331 or [email protected] or Facebook Charles Fred Tate, ASAP.

At our next meeting, on Monday, June 11th, we will be honoring one of our very own, Mrs. Edith Gary. Mrs. Gary was nominated for the Kentucky Retired Teacher Volunteer of the Year Award for 2012. She recently received the news that she was selected as our Third District Retired Teacher Volunteer of the Year Award for 2012 and her nomination has already been forwarded to the state level. If selected as the KRTA Volunter of the Year, we will have an even bigger celebration on June 12th. So, put this date on your calendars and spread the word for us. Our plans are to begin planning this celebration as soon as our March meeting is over. Stay tuned to BTN/Radio, the Banner and the Chamber newsletter for further announcements. Also, expect to see this on email and Facebook, too. We are so very proud of our Butler County students and of our very own BCRTA member, Edith Gary!!
