Butler County knocks off Russellville, 44-33

RUSSELLVILLE - Visiting Butler County knocked off Russellville 44-33 in a girls' high school basketball game on Tuesday, Jan. 4.

After notching the win, Butler County improved to 10-1.

Butler County led 7-4 at the conclusion of the opening quarter. However, Russellville battled back to lead 20-18 at halftime.

Moving out in front after the intermission period, Butler County led 31-29 at the conclusion of the third quarter. 

Adding to its lead in the final period, Butler County pulled away to win.

Butler County shot 56 percent (14-of-25) from the free throw line in the winning effort. 

Gracie Cardwell led Butler County to the victory, scoring 10 points for the Lady Bears. Cardwell was the only Butler County player to reach double figures in scoring.

Following Cardwell in scoring for the Lady Bears, Jaelyn Taylor, Taylin Clark and Jenna Phelps netted eight points apiece. 

Rounding out Butler County's individual scoring, Graci Leach and Taylor Leach added five points apiece. 

Nearly recording a double-double for Butler County, Taylin Clark pulled down 10 rebounds. Behind Clark in the key category, Graci Leach collected nine rebounds for the Lady Bears.
