Butler Co. High School NJROTC Competes
The Butler County NJROTC cadets attended the Paducah Tilghman High school 7th annual Tornado Triumph Sports Challenge on September 15th. The unit was split into two teams and the total attendance was forty-eight cadets. Accompanying Butler County at the field meet were Army, Navy and Air Force units from Muhlenberg and Daviess County High Schools as well as participants from Fort Campbell, Northside, and the host high school of Paducah. While the events were held mostly for friendly competition, sportsmanship was also awarded at the end of the day. “If you aren’t first, you’re last.” was Butler County’s motto as they went into the meet hoping to bring home some trophies. A wide variety of entertaining yet challenging competitions were open to the NJROTC cadets, ranging from simple games of dodge ball and volleyball to the endurance challenge and relay races. In the end, BCHS placed second in the one mile relay and in basketball and was awarded third place in tug-of-war, tiny tug-of-war and dodge ball. At the end of the day, the BCHS team learned there are more important things than being first – like team spirit and having a good time.
Travis Higgs makes the turn.
