Bears lose to Edmonson County, end season 14-11

BROWNSVILLE - Butler County concluded the 2018-19 boys' high school basketball season 14-11. The Bears lost to host Edmonson County in the semifinals of the 12th District Boys' Basketball Tournament. Edmonson County edged the Bears 44-42 in the 12th District Boys' Basketball Semifinals on Tuesday, Feb. 19.
The Bears, under the direction of head coach Calvin Dockery, notched wins over Lyon County, Apollo, Edmonson County, Walden, Evangel Christian, Fulton City, Portland Christian, St. Francis, Caverna, Cloverport, Grayson County, Whitesville Trinity and Todd County Central during the 2018-19 regular-season. Longtime rivals, Butler County and Edmonson County split a 2018-19 regular-season 12th District boys' basketball series.
Grayson County, which defeated Whitesville Trinity 45-40 in the opening game of the 12th District Boys' Basketball Tournament, captured a title in Brownsville. The Cougars downed Edmonson County 63-58 in overtime in the 12th District Boys' Basketball Tournament championship game on Friday night.
Several members of the Butler County boys' basketball team will turn their focus to spring sports.
