Bears drop game to Breck, picks up win at Owensboror

 Bears blank Owensboro 14-0 in 5 innings
OWENSBORO - Butler County rolled on the road on Monday, blanking host Owensboro 14-0 in five innings in a high school softball game at Shifley Park.
With the win, Butler County improved to 10-5.Owensboro dropped to 8-13 with the loss.
The Bears returned to the win column after suffering a three-run loss to Breckinridge County on Friday.
Longtime 3rd Region rivals, Butler County and Owensboro met for a non-district matchup. Butler County moved ahead during its initial plate appearance. The Bears set the tone early, scoring three runs in the top half of the opening inning.
Butler County outhit Owensboro 11-4 and overcame a pair of defensive miscues to win convincingly. Hannah Chaney and Autumn Proctor clubbed one home run apiece to lead Butler County's offensive attack. Proctor, Tori McKinney and Aleace Hall each drilled a double for the Bears in the convincing victory. Finishing strong, Butler County plated five runs in the top half of the fifth inning.
In the circle for Butler County, Kylee Smith pitched a four-hit complete game shutout and earned the win.Owensboro pitcher Marlee Spain took the loss.
Struggling defensively, Owensboro committed eight errors.

Bears drop home game to Breckinridge County

MORGANTOWN - The Butler County Bears fell short in a bid to return to the win column as visiting Breckinridge County held on to win 9-6 in a high school softball game on Friday.
Longtime 3rd Region rivals, Butler County and Breckinridge County met for the first time in the 2018 season.
Butler County returned to the field after hosting its round robin six days earlier. With the loss, Butler County dropped to 9-5.Breckinridge County improved to 3-8 with the win.
The Bears lost despite outhitting Breckinridge County 10-9 and committing two fewer errors. Breckinridge County overcame three errors to claim the victory.
Breckinridge County pitcher Kaylee Ball earned the win. Ball surrendered six runs on 10 hits over seven innings, striking out five.
Bailey Caster, Hannah Radaszewski and Amber Dupin each managed multiple hits for the Lady Tigers. Caster led Breckinridge County with three hits in four at-bats.
Tori McKinney and Bayleigh Alford led the Butler County offensive effort with two hits apiece.
The Bears have regular-season games remaining versus Owensboro, Grayson County, Franklin-Simpson, Adair County, Clinton County, Whitesville Trinity, Edmonson County, Russellville, Hopkins County Central, Calloway County, North Hardin, Todd County Central, Caverna and Hancock County.
