Bears beat Lyon County for first win

EDDYVILLE - Butler County notched its first win in the 2018-19 boys' high school basketball season on Friday night, beating host Lyon County 78-59.
The Bears landed in the win column after opening the season with back-to-back losses to Metcalfe County and Glasgow.
Butler County, under the direction of head coach Calvin Dockery, improved to 1-2 with the win.
With the loss, Lyon County slipped to 1-1.
The Bears thrived offensively, shooting 55.4 percent (31-of-56) from the field. Butler County was 9-of-16 (56.3 percent) from 3-point range.
The Bears shot 70 percent (7-of-10) from the free throw line.
Butler County dominated inside, outrebounding Lyon County 38-24.
Jaden Hurt recorded a double-double to lead Butler County to the win. Hurt poured in a game-high 31 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Bears.
Finishing near Hurt in the Butler County scoring column and recording a double-double of his own, Parker Rice added 29 points a game-high 14 rebounds.
Leevi McMillin (seven point), Chance Castlen (three points), Jagger Henderson (three points), Hayden Hodge (three points) and Solomon Flener (two points) provided additional scoring for Butler County in the victory.
Lyon County shot only 33.3 percent (17-of-51) from the field. The Lyons were 3-of-15 from 3-point range.
Lyon County shot 68.8 percent (22-of-32) from the free throw line.
Jackson Shoulders led Lyon County with a double-double, scoring 16 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.
Lyon County featured four scorers in double figures as Travis Perry and Gabe Board scored 14 points apiece while Kade Blackburn contributed 12 points.
The Bears are scheduled to host 3rd Region rival Daviess County in a home game on Tuesday.
