A large crowd packed Butler County High School gym on Friday night, as the Bears and Lady Bears basketball teams took on the Grayson County Cougars in a double header, with homecoming festivities taking place in between the games. In an exciting night, both BC teams attained victories and Brody Hunt and Lizzie Smaluk were named Bearfest King and Queen.

Ms. Ann Marie Skaggs & Mr. Curtis Clay Murphy. Ann Marie is the daughter of Jason & Adra Skaggs of Morgantown. Curtis is the son of Marty & Lora Murphy, also of Morgantown.

Ms. Karrington Hunt & Mr. Jett Johnson. Karrington is the daughter of Bryan & Kristie Hunt of Morgantown. Jett is the son of Dan & Michaelle Johnson, also of Morgantown.

Representing the Sophomore Class: 

Ms. Bailey Moore and Mr. Justin Castlen. Bailey is the daughter of Kim & Kyle Moore, of Morgantown. Justin is the son of Richard and Joanna Castlen, also of Morgantown.

Ms. Maggie Childers and Mr. Blake Bratcher. Maggie is the daughter of Andrea & Jaman Childers of Morgantown. Blake is the son of Ben & Kelly Bratcher of Roundhill.

Representing the Junior Class:

Ms. Sally Butler and Mr. Blake Tomes. Sally is the daughter of Adam & Casey Butler of Morgantown. Blake is the son of Deana Jo & Brandon Tomes, also of Morgantown.

Ms. Taylor Leach and Mr. Gage Beasley. Taylor is the daughter of Tina & Todd Leach of Morgantown. Gage is the son of Scotty and Stacey Beasley, also of Morgantown.

 2023 Senior Bearfest King & Queen Candidates:

Ms. Lizzie Smaluk and Mr. Zane Lasiter. Lizzy is the daughter of Christy Bilbrey of Morgantown. Zane is the son of Shannon & Eddie Lasiter, also of Morgantown.

Ms. Loryn Robbins & Mr. Luke Laughing. Loryn is the daughter of Chris & Karrie Robbins, of Logansport. Luke is the son of Regina and Hawk Laughing of Morgantown.

Ms. Kennedy Rice & Mr. Brody Hunt. Kennedy is the daughter of Stephen & Stacy Rice of Logansport. Brody is the son of Jon & Andrea Hunt, of Morgantown.

Ms. Pha Nguyen & Mr. Jean-Luc Garnier. Pha is the daughter of Hoang & Hue Nguyen of Bowling Green. Jean-Luc is the son of Nancy & Arnaud Garnier of Logansport.

Miss Aer Sells & Mr. Devin Poston. Aer is the daughter of Carrie & Priscilla Turner of Bowling Green. Devin is the son of Jeffrey Poston also of Bowling Green & Christa Thompson of Bardstown.

Ms. MacKenzie Coleman & Mr. Carson Miller MacKenzie is the daughter of Mac & Stephanie Coleman of Woodbury. Carson is the nephew of Jordan & Melody Miller of Roundhill.

Ms. Delaney Daugherty & Mr. Brady Jones. Delaney is the daughter of Ryan & Darla Daughtery of Morgantown. Brady is the son of Jason & Tiffani Jones, also of Morgantown.

Ms. Jacqueline Rhoades & Mr. Ty Griffin. Jacqueline is the daughter of Tony & Lisa Rhoades of Morgantown. Ty is the son of RB Griffin & Ashley Flint, both also of Morgantown.

Butler County’s Crown Bearer and Escort for this evening are Little Miss Hattie Mae Clark and Master Ben Runion. Hattie is the 6 year old daughter of Matt & Candi Clark of Morgantown. She is in Mrs. Hallie’s 1st grade class at North Butler Elementary School. Hattie is the granddaughter of Sharon & Kenny Johnson of Morgantown and the late A.C. Phelps Jr., Debbie & Doug Snell also of Morgantown, and the late Larry Clark. Ben is the 6 year old son of James & Ashley Runion of Henderson, Ky. He is in kindergarten at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School. Ben is the grandson of Micheal & Rhonda Vaughn of Morgantown and Julia Runion of Manchester.

2022 Bearfest Queen and King: Ms. Gracie Cardwell and Mr. Solomon Flener. Gracie is the daughter of Chad & Leslie Cardwell of Morgantown. She is a student at Owensboro Community & Technical College pursuing a degree in Nursing to become a Pediatric ICU RN. Gracie is currently working at the Medical Center of Bowling Green. Solomon is the son of Chad & Carmen Flener also of Morgantown. He is currently working for Scotty’s Contracting Company.
