BCMS Co-Ed Cheer Squad Wins Grand Champion

On Saturday, January 14 the Butler County Middle School Cheer squad was in competition at Park City. They placed first in the Co-Ed division and went on the win the Grand Champion trophy beating: Munfordville, Barren Middle, Glasgow Middle, Gold Star Cheer, and McLean Co. High's stunt group.

This is the first time in middle school history we have had a Co-Ed Squad at BCMS.

"I am very proud of my boys and girls. They are dedicated and strive to be the best in all they do. Cheerleading is not their only strength, they excell in academics also," said Head Cheer Coach Amy Smith-Thomas.

Smith-Thomas went on to say, "The cheer parents are fabulous to work with and I appreciate each one of them. They pay for cheer items, do fundraisers, get their son/daughter to practices, camps, ballgames, and competitions. As the cheer coach, I am honored to work with such fantastic cheerleaders, cheer parents, and administrators."

Both the BCMS and BCHS Cheer Squads will be in competition on Saturday, January 21 at Bowling Green High School.

The BCMS Cheer Squad is coach by Mrs. Amy Smith-Thomas and Assistant Cheer Coach Kay Romans. They are also assisted by WKU Assistants Josh and Lori Bewley.
