BCHS Students Compete in Regional FCCLA STAR Events Competition

Members of the Butler County High School Family, Community, and Career Leaders of America (FCCLA) recently competed in the Region 4 STAR Events competition. STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation. STAR Events offer individual skill development and application of learning through the following activities:

Cooperative - teams work to accomplish specific goals.
Individualized - members work alone to accomplish specific goals.
Competitive - individual or team performance measured by an established set of criteria.

Individuals or teams that finished in first place in any event advances to the state competition in March. All 45 Butler County students placed in the event they competed in and 27 students placed in 10 different events.

Mrs. Kimberlea Embry, Family and Consumer Sciences teacher and FCCLA sponsor, said, "I am so proud of our students! They really did an amazing job! Students planned and implemented projects that impacted our school and community. Many students have been working on these events since school began."
