BASEBALL: Bears playing .500 ball through ten games against tough competition

With ten games under their belts against solid competition, the Butler County Baseball Bears are 5-5 early in the 2017 season.

Butler County opened the season with a pair of wins - a 14-3 road win at Warren Central on March 13 and a 10-0 home win on March 16 over Dawson Springs.  The Bears fell 7-1 to South Warren at home on March 17; lost 9-1 at Muhlenberg County on March 21; and lost 11-1 on the road to Fourth Region power Franklin-Simpson on March 23.

Butler County rebounded and rattled off three consecutive wins beginning with a 9-3 home win against Russellville on March 24 and a pair of wins in the Ray Chapman Tournament at Ohio County.  The Bears defeated Ohio County 9-2 on March 25 and beat Hopkinsville 13-1 on the same day.

The Bears headed south on Spring Break to battle a pair of Florida teams, as well as the weather.  Butler County fell 6-0 to Milton on April 4, and lost 12-0 to Pensacola Catholic on April 5.

Butler County will have a busy week following Spring Break.  The Bears are scheduled to host Greenwood on April 10, will travel to South Warren on April 13, and will host University Heights on April 15.
