Whitfield Opposes Obama's Executive Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants

WASHINGTON, DC –  U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield, (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, issued the following statement  on the president's immigration announcement expected Thursday evening:

“In a direct affront to the message the American people sent us on November 4th, President Obama continues to make unilateral decisions that assault the very fiber of America and our Constitution. Unless this President changes his approach to addressing our country’s immigration problems, the situation at our borders will only get worse.

President Obama has previously stated he would not issue an executive order on immigration because he would be ignoring the law. I agree with the President and call on him to stop making policy decisions solely at his discretion and to start working with Congress to pass immigration reforms that the American people desire such as securing our border.”
