The Picture Man Shoots Butler County Snow

Audrey Deweese and Conley Moore

As the Picture Man drove along in his red Dodge Neon he said it to himself several times “This is the best snow day yet of the season.” He had just passed by Roundhill and turned west on Brownsville Road and the brilliant early morning sun shining on the fresh snow almost brought tears to his eyes.

Just before making his turn he had spotted a family on a four wheeler and stopped to talk to red cheeked Basham family and their dog Cutter who looked like they were having the time of their lives plowing through the snow on their machine. The roads were clear with very few slick spots, indicating that Timmy and the road crew had done their job. Traffic was next to none which worked out great for the frequent stops he made to get out of his car to take photos.

The previous day had brought about falling temperatures, rain, sleet and overnight snow. Butler Countians had woke up on Saturday to enough snow for sledding, and it sure seemed like a lot more snow had fallen than the predicted inch or two.
The country side looked like it had just been laundered, the power lines resembled strings of white sweater yarn and the air was clear and frosty.

Going to fix a power outage.
Little Reedy Creek was another one of several scenic stopping points where he turned on his emergency flashers which caused a couple of passer byes to ask if he needed help. Moving on down the road past Jetson it seemed like every turn showed more beauty than the last one.

John Richardson headed into work.

His camera had gotten a good workout so far and the trip wouldn’t be complete without a shot of the Courthouse in Morgantown and maybe a few sledders at the Park. Wet feet and cold hands aside, it had been a good and wondorous morning in Butler County.
