Bears, Wilcats set to tangle in Morgantown

Familiar foes will take to the field on Friday night, October 31, as the Edmonson County Wildcats make their way to Morgantown for a football match-up with the Butler County Bears.  It is the final regular season game for both teams.  Butler County (6-3) is coming off a 43-41 win last week against Hancock County and has won their last four contests.  Meanwhile, Edmonson County (4-5) is on a two-game winning stint with a 25-0 win over Hart County and a 9-7 victory over Monroe County last week.  It is also Senior Night at Butler County.  Seniors will be recognized prior to the game.
Fans can expect a tough battle anytime these two squads face each other - a fact Butler County head Coach Ryan Emmick knows well.
"Edmonson County is a very well coach team led by Head Coach Kyle Pierce.  Coach Pierce every year has his teams prepared to play physical, fundamental football," said Emmick.  "His teams each year show up to compete and we must be ready to play four quarters of hard-nosed football."
The Wilcats aren't a predictable offensive team and will line up in multiple offensive formations.
"Offensively, Edmonson will give us a variety of looks.  They will align in some WingT sets as well as show some spread and Pro formations.  We have to be able to adjust on the fly and adapt our definse on the fly for each formation we see," said Emmick.
"Aggressive and physical" are two adjectives Coach Emmick uses to describe the defensive play of Edmonson.
"They will align in both a 3-4 and 4-4 look and like to bring pressure.  We must be ready to pick up the blitz packages and control the line of scrimmage," said Emmick.  "Edmonson's defensive line is very agressive and strong and our line must be ready to play up front."
Kick-off is schedule for 7 p.m.  The game will be aired live on WLBQ 101.5/Morgantown.  John Embry, Cody Donaldson, and Josh Scott will provide play-by-play coverage and plenty of stats and commentary.  To listen on your phone, fans can download the brand new WLBQ app.
