Bears Softball nears halfway point with 10-6-1 record; JV team is undefeated at 8-0

Amy Rogers fields the bunt.

With the first half of the 2014 softball season nearly over, the Butler County Bears' softball team has notched ten wins against six losses and one tie (tournament play).  With a season cap of 36 varsity games, the Bears have 19 games remaining before the post-season.

In their last outing on April 26, the Bears came from behind to defeat visiting Apollo 4-3 in eight innings.  A home run blast to right-center by Lynsie Clark followed by basehits by Kassie Phelps and Amy Rogers set the stage for Hannah Peach's single up the middle for the walk-off win.

Butler County fell 5-4 to Grayson County on April 10 and dropped a 11-6 decision to Todd County Central on April 7.  Prior to that, the Bears tied Olentangy Orange HS 2-2, lost to Boyle County 5-1, and beat Carroll County 5-1 - all at the Woodford County Spring Break Tournament.

Before the Woodford tournament, the Bears had won three of four - defeating Caverna 15-0 (3/24), Breckinridge County 3-0 (3/27), and Logan County 4-0 (4/1).  Butler fell 8-4 to Edmonson on March 27.
